Reasons for DNA Testing

DNA and Ydna has changed since I started the investigation in 2017 People get DNA things done for many reasons and depending on the reason do different types od DNA tests.. Some do it wanting to solve family mysteries most though just out of curiosity and for a time it was a thing to do. I had things done for a purpose and got the ones I wanted done got their permission and I paid for testing. So just me with the interest, however two others got it done for curiosity and never did anything but look at it and then they were done with it. One a nephew did talk about it initially; he found out from me where his

10% Jewish came from. The other my granddaughter who could care less but her mom did hers working on a family tree also had her daughter do it. Another I happened to catch at Ancestry my husbands brother and I messaged him, he was not on long found his Neise out there and removed his DNA off. My guess was to see if maybe he had produced any unknown children, he had been married twice before even. I found out another Neise and nephew purchased a kit for each other for Christmas gift.

The two top companies running ads all the time back then was Ancestry and 23andme for the 5-generation DNA kit. Family split on who they went to. The ones not involved with family tree research went to 23andme, the ones working on family trees used Ancestry the largest. I though was the one that started things in the family I think. My intent after research, finding out a woman could get Ydna from a brother or uncle, my Dads sibling or from any of their sons to be able to get the house of the father bloodlines from the house I was from also. Reason? My Dad felt he was part of Israel, no proof no talk in family just a gut feeling?

DNA Ydna Adventure Begins

I think it was July or first of August I ordered 2 kits from Familytreedna, sending one to my brother and one to come to my husband. I paid for 2 different tests to be done with their DNA kit for each.. The five generation and the Ydna for each one of them. The first to be received of them was the 5 generation results. I was expecting to see the Jewish signature with my husband Robert Jacobs. I was excited to see the trace in my brother Robert Ehrman and wished my Dad would have been alive to see this, with Dad it would have been double that. It is cut in half about on all the things. This is why my husband showed only 22% from a grandpa of 100%
